29 All the people of Israel that wanted to help brought gifts to the Lord. The people gave these gifts freely, because they wanted to. These gifts were used to make all the things the Lord had commanded Moses and the people to make.

All these things didn’t come\par from me and my people!\par All these things come from you.\par We are only giving back to you\par things that came from you.\par


My God, I know that you test people,\par and that you are happy\par when people do good.\par I gladly give you all these things\par with a pure, honest heart.\par I see your people gathered here.\par And I see that they are happy\par about giving these things to you.\par


I am making a special gift of gold and silver things for my God’s temple. I am doing this because I really want the temple of my God to be built. I am giving all these things to build this holy temple.


The family leaders, the leaders of the family groups of Israel, the generals, the captains, and the officials responsible for the king’s work, were all ready and gave their valuable things.


Josiah’s officials also freely gave animals and things to the people, to the priests, and Levites to use for the Passover. Hilkiah the high priest, Zechariah, and Jehiel were the officials in charge of the temple. They gave the priests 2,600 lambs and goats and 300 bulls for Passover sacrifices.


After that, they began offering the continual burnt offerings each day, the offerings for the New Moon, and for all the other festivals and holidays that were commanded by the Lord. The people also began giving any other gifts they wanted to give to the Lord.


Then I said to those twelve priests: “You and these things are holy to the Lord. People gave this silver and gold to the Lord, the God of your ancestors.


Moses said to all the people of Israel, “This is what the Lord commanded:


Gather special gifts for the Lord. Each of you should decide in your heart what you will give. And then you should bring that gift to the Lord. Bring gold, silver, and bronze [356] ;


Moses gave these people all the things the people of Israel had brought as gifts. And they used these things to build {God’s} holy place. The people continued to bring gifts each morning.


You should follow the teachings and the agreement. {\cf2\super [105]} If you don’t follow these commands, then you might follow the wrong commands. (The wrong commands are those commands that come from the wizards and fortune tellers. Those commands are worth nothing; you will gain nothing by following those commands.)


Teach those people to obey everything that I have told you. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of the world.”


Is Apollos important? No! Is Paul important? No! We are only servants of God who helped you believe. Each one of us did the work God gave us to do.


If I do this work of telling the Good News because it is my own choice, then I deserve a reward. But I have no choice. I must tell the Good News. I am only doing the duty that was given to me.


Each person should give what he has decided in his heart to give. A person should not give if it makes him sad. And a person should not give if he thinks he is forced to give. God loves the person who gives happily.


Peace and mercy to the people who follow this rule—to all of God’s people.


you must carefully obey all the laws and rules I give you today.


“You must be careful to do everything I command you. Don’t add anything to the things I tell you, and don’t take anything away.


You must not add to the things that I command you. And you must not take anything away. You must obey the commands of the Lord your God that I have given you.


This makes us more sure about the things the prophets {\cf2\super [2]} said. And it is good for you to follow closely what the prophets said. The things they said are like a light shining in a dark place. You have that light until the day begins and the morning star brings new light to your minds.


The men of Israel prepared for battle. [37] They volunteered to go to war! Bless the Lord!


My heart is with the commanders of Israel who volunteered to go to war! Bless the Lord!
