“So you will always remember tonight—it will be a special holiday for you. Your descendants [67] will honor the Lord with this holiday forever.


Rich people must not give more than 1Ú2 shekel. And poor people must not give less than 1Ú2 shekel. All people will make the same offering to the Lord. This will be a payment for your life.


He did this the way the Lord commanded him through Moses. This was a sign to help the people of Israel remember that only a person from the family of Aaron should burn incense [215] before the Lord. Any other person who burns incense before the Lord will die like Korah and his followers.


Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the leaders of 1,000 men and the leaders of 100 men. Then they put that gold in the Meeting Tent. [369] This present was a memorial [370] before the Lord for the people of Israel.
