27 you will say, ‘This Passover is to honor the Lord. Why? Because when we were in Egypt, the Lord passed over [74] the houses of Israel. The Lord killed the Egyptians, but he saved the people in our houses. So now the people bow down and worship the Lord.’”

Then David said to all the group of people gathered together, “Now give praise to the Lord your God.” So all the people gave praise to the Lord God, the God their ancestors {\cf2\super [325]} worshiped. They bowed to the ground to give honor to the Lord and to the king.


Jehoshaphat bowed down low. His face touched the ground. And all the people of Judah and the people living in Jerusalem fell down in front of the Lord. And they all worshiped the Lord.


King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to give praise to the Lord. They sang songs that David and Asaph the seer {\cf2\super [359]} had written. They praised God and became happy. They all bowed and worshiped God.


Ezra praised the Lord, the great God. And all the people held up their hands and said, “Amen! Amen!” Then all the people bowed down and put their faces low to the ground and they worshiped the Lord.

Because this is the Lord’s Passover [64] —{the time when the Lord protected his people and led them quickly out of Egypt}.


At the time the Lord goes through Egypt to kill the firstborn, the Lord will see the blood on the sides and tops of the door frames. Then the Lord will protect [72] that house. The Lord will not let the Destroyer come into your houses and hurt you.


The Lord had given this command to Moses and Aaron. So the people of Israel did what the Lord commanded.


“In the future, your children will ask why you do this. They will say, ‘What does all this mean?’ And you will answer, ‘The Lord used his great power to save us from Egypt. We were slaves in that place. But the Lord led us out and brought us here.


On this day, you should tell your children, ‘We are having this feast because the Lord took me out of Egypt.’


“Whenever you offer blood from a sacrifice [351] to me, don’t offer yeast at the same time.


Then Moses quickly bowed to the ground and worshiped {the Lord}. Moses said,


The people believed that God had sent Moses. The people of Israel knew that God had seen their troubles, and that he had come to help them. So they bowed down and worshiped God.


Take out all the old yeast (sin), so that you will be a new batch of dough. You really are Passover bread {\cf2\super [30]} without yeast. Yes, Christ, our Passover lamb, {\cf2\super [31]} has already been killed.


You must go to the place the Lord will choose to be his special house. There you must offer the Passover sacrifice to honor the Lord. You must offer the cows and goats.


“You must not sacrifice the Passover animal in any of the towns that the Lord your God gives you.
