Then the people said, “We should build a city for ourselves. And we should build a tower that will reach to the sky. We will be famous. {And this will keep us together.} We will not be scattered all over the earth.”


While Absalom was alive he put up a pillar in King’s Valley. Absalom said, “I have no son to keep my name alive.” So he named the pillar after himself. That pillar is called “Absalom’s Monument” even today.


Asa sent this message, “My father and your father had a peace agreement. Now I want to make a peace agreement with you. I am sending you this gift of gold and silver. Please break your treaty with Baasah the king of Israel so he will get out of my country and leave us alone.”


So Solomon finished building the Lord’s temple and his own palace. Solomon built all the things that he wanted to build.

Uzziah built towers in the desert. He also dug many wells. He had much cattle in the hill country and in the flat lands. Uzziah had farmers in the mountains and in the lands where growth was good. He also had men that took care of fields where grapes grew. He loved farming.


Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter up from the City of David to the house he built for her. Solomon said, “My wife must not live in King David’s house because the places where the Box of the Agreement {\cf2\super [136]} has been are holy places.”


The grave will be their new home\par forever and ever.\par And how much land they owned\par won’t make any difference!\par
