49 “Go to the Abarim Mountains. Go up on Mount Nebo in the land of Moab across from the city of Jericho. Then you can look at the land of Canaan that I am giving to the people of Israel to live in.

“Judah, go up to the mountains of Lebanon\par and cry out.\par Let your voice be heard\par in the mountains of Bashan.\par Cry out in the mountains of Abarim.\par Why? Because your ‘lovers’\par will all be destroyed.\par


“I am giving the land of Canaan to your people. Your people will enter that land. At that time, I might cause mildew [214] to grow in some person’s house.


Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up on one of mountains in the desert east of the Jordan River. There you will see the land that I am giving to the people of Israel.


Later, Joshua led our ancestors to capture the lands of the other nations. Our people went in and God made the other people go out. When our people went into this new land, they took with them this same tent. Our people received this tent from their fathers, and our people kept it until the time of David.


We know that \{our body\}—the tent we live in here on earth—will be destroyed. But when that happens, God will have a home for us to live in. It will not be a home made by men. It will be a home in heaven that will continue forever.


Go up to the top of Mount Pisgah. Look to the west, to the north, to the south, and to the east. You may see these things with your eyes, but you can never go across the Jordan River.
