10 The land that you will get is not like the land of Egypt that you came from. In Egypt, you planted your seeds, and then you used your feet {to pump water from the canals} to water your plants. {You watered your fields} the same way you water a vegetable garden.

The people that make dams to save water will have no work, so they will be sad.


I dug wells, and drank water\par \{from new places\}.\par I dried up the rivers of Egypt\par and walked on that country.’\par


\{The Lord says,\}\par “I brought you into a good land,\par a land filled with many good things.\par I did this so you could eat the fruit and crops\par that grow there.\par But you only made my land ‘dirty.’\par I gave that land to you,\par but you made it a bad place.\par


If any of the families in Egypt don’t come to celebrate the Festival of Shelters, then they will get that terrible disease that the Lord caused the enemy nations to get.


But the land that you will soon get is not like that. In Israel there are mountains and valleys. And the land gets its water from the rain that falls from the sky.


Then you will live a long life in that country. The Lord promised to give that land to your ancestors [66] and all their descendants. [67] It is a land filled with many good things. [68]


The Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with rivers and pools of water. Water flows out of the ground in the valleys and hills.
