24 When the believers heard this, they all prayed to God. They all wanted the same thing. They prayed, “Master, you are the One who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything in the world.

Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said, “Lord, the God of Israel who sits as King between the Cherub angels. [237] You are the God—you alone—of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth!


So now, Lord our God, save us from the king of Assyria. Then all the kingdoms on earth will know that you, Lord, are the only God.”


You are God!\par Lord, only you are God!\par You made the sky!\par You made the highest heavens,\par and everything in them!\par You made the earth,\par and everything on it!\par You made the seas,\par and everything in them!\par You give life to everything!\par And all the heavenly angels\par bow down and worship you!\par


Why? Because the Lord worked six days and made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything in them. And on the seventh day, God rested. In this way, the Lord blessed the Sabbath—the day of rest. The Lord made that a very special day.


The Lord says,\par “I am the One who comforts you.\par So why should you be afraid of people?\par They are only people that live and die.\par They are only humans—\par they die the same as grass.”\par


Sing to the Lord! Praise the Lord!\par The Lord saves the lives of poor people!\par He saves them from wicked people!\par


“Lord God, you made the skies and the earth. You made them with your great power. There is nothing too wonderful for you to do.


“Men, why are you doing these things? We are not gods! We have the same feelings as you have! We came to tell you the Good News. {\cf2\super [290]} We are telling you to turn away from these worthless things. Turn to the true living God. He is the One who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them.


About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing songs to God. The other prisoners were listening to them.


Peter and John left the meeting of Jewish leaders and went to their own group. They told the group everything that the leading priests and the older Jewish leaders had said to them.
