“Don’t think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace. I came to bring a sword.


But some of the people in the city agreed with the Jews. Other people in the city believed Paul and Barnabas. So the city was divided.


Some of the men in the meeting were Sadducees {\cf2\super [454]} and some others were Pharisees. {\cf2\super [455]} So Paul had an idea: He shouted to them, “My brothers, I am a Pharisee and my father was a Pharisee! I am on trial here because I hope (believe) that people will rise from death!”


(The Sadducees believe that after people die, they will not live again as an angel or as a spirit. But the Pharisees believe in both.)
