Then the prophet Zedekiah went to Micaiah. Zedekiah hit Micaiah on the face. Zedekiah said, “Do you really believe that the Lord’s power has left me and is now speaking through you?”


Then Zedekiah went over to Micaiah and hit him in the face. Zedekiah’s father’s name was Kenaanah. Zedekiah said, “Micaiah, which way did the spirit from the Lord go when he went from me to speak to you?”


People have crowded around me.\par They make fun of me and slap my face.\par


So he had Jeremiah the prophet beaten. And he had Jeremiah’s hands and feet locked between large blocks of wood. This was at the Upper Gate of Benjamin of the temple.


Now, strong city, {\cf2\super [59]} gather your soldiers.\par They are surrounding us for the attack!\par They will hit the Judge of Israel\par on the cheek with their stick.\par


Then they spit in Jesus’ face. And they hit him with their fists. Other people slapped Jesus.


When Jesus said this, one of the guards standing there hit him. The guard said, “You should not talk to the high priest {\cf2\super [234]} like that!”


Jesus answered, “If I said something wrong, then tell everyone here what was wrong. But if the things I said are right, then why do you hit me?”


Five days later Ananias went to the city of Caesarea. Ananias was the high priest. {\cf2\super [462]} Ananias also brought some of the older Jewish leaders and a lawyer named Tertullus. They went to Caesarea to make charges against Paul before the governor.
