Amon left the Lord, the God of his ancestors [267] , and did not live the way the Lord wanted.


David went out to meet them. David said to them, “If you have come in peace to help me, I welcome you. Join me. But if you have come to spy on me when I have done nothing wrong, then may the God of our ancestors see what you did and punish you.”


Lord, you are the God of our ancestors,\par Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. {\cf2\super [324]} \par Please help your people plan the right things.\par Help them be loyal and true to you!\par


In every town in Judah Ahaz made high places {\cf2\super [330]} for burning incense {\cf2\super [331]} to worship other gods. Ahaz made the Lord God that his ancestors {\cf2\super [332]} obeyed very angry.


{\cf2\super [52]} Blessed is the Lord,\par the God of our ancestors.\par God put the idea into the king’s heart\par to honor the Lord’s temple in Jerusalem.\par


The Lord is my strength. He saves me, and I sing songs of praise to him. [96] The Lord is my God, and I praise him. The Lord is the God of my ancestors, [97] and I honor him.

The God of Israel (the Jews) chose our ancestors. God helped his people to have success during the time they lived in Egypt as strangers. God brought them out of that country with great power.


You will be his witness to all people. You will tell men about the things you have seen and heard.


I saw Jesus, and Jesus said to me: ‘Hurry! Leave Jerusalem now! The people here will not accept the truth about me.’


But I will tell you this: I worship the God of our fathers {\cf2\super [467]} as a follower of the Way \{of Jesus\}. The Jews say that the Way \{of Jesus\} is not the right way. But I believe everything that is taught in the law \{of Moses\}. And I believe everything that is written in the books of the prophets. {\cf2\super [468]}


Stand up! I have chosen you to be my servant. You will be my witness—you will tell people the things that you have seen about me today and the things that I will show you. This is why I have come to you today.


You killed Jesus. You hung him on a cross. But God, the same God our fathers {\cf2\super [99]} had, raised Jesus up from death!


Your ancestors persecuted {\cf2\super [148]} every prophet {\cf2\super [149]} that ever lived. Those prophets said long ago that the Righteous One (Christ {\cf2\super [150]})would come. But your ancestors killed those prophets. And now you have turned against the Righteous One and killed him.


But the Lord (Jesus) said to Ananias, “Go! I have chosen Saul for an important work. He must tell about me to kings, to the Jewish people, and to other nations.


So Ananias left and went to the house of Judas. He put his hands on Saul and said, “Saul, my brother, the Lord Jesus sent me. He is the One you saw on the road when you came here. Jesus sent me so that you can see again and so that you can be filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [191]} ”


Greetings from Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus. God called me to be an apostle. {\cf2\super [1]} I was chosen to tell God’s Good News {\cf2\super [2]} to all people.


The teaching that I gave you is the same teaching that I received from the Lord: On the night when Jesus was given to be killed, he took bread


I gave you the message that I received. I told you the most important things: that Christ died for our sins, like the Scriptures {\cf2\super [107]} say;


Last of all, Christ showed himself to me. \{I was different,\} like a baby that is born before the normal time.


I am a free man! I am an apostle {\cf2\super [52]} ! I have seen Jesus our Lord! You people are \{an example of\} my work in the Lord.


I did not get my message from any other human. The Good News is not something I learned from other people. Jesus Christ himself gave it to me. He showed me the Good News that I should tell people.


But God had special plans for me even before I was born. So God called me with his grace (kindness). God wanted me
