Then Absalom would say to this man, “Look, you are right, but King David won’t listen to you.”


Joab was captain of all the army of Israel. Benaiah son of Jehoiada led the Kerethites and Pelethites.


Abner sent messengers to David. Abner said, “Who do you think should rule this country? Make an agreement with me, and I will help you become the ruler of all the people of Israel.”


In Hebron, he ruled over Judah for 7 years and 6 months. And in Jerusalem, he ruled over all of Israel and Judah for 33 years.


David put groups of soldiers in Edom. He put these groups of soldiers through all the land of Edom. All the people of Edom became servants of David. The Lord gave victory to David every place he went.


Joab son of Zeruiah was the captain over the army. Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the historian.


Praise the Lord your God! He was pleased to make you king of Israel. The Lord God loves Israel. So he made you the king. You follow the law and treat people fairly.”


King Solomon ruled all the people of Israel.


David was king over all of Israel. He did what was right and fair for everyone.


I have done what is right and good.\par Lord, don’t give me to the people\par who want to hurt me.\par


Help the king judge your people fairly.\par Help him make wise decisions for your poor people.\par


God says,\par “I choose the time for judgment.\par I will judge fairly.\par


Your kingdom is built on truth and justice.\par Love and faithfulness are servants\par before your throne.\par


Power and peace will be in his kingdom. It will continue to grow for this king from David’s family. This king will use goodness and fair judgment to rule the kingdom forever and ever.


Hate evil and love goodness.\par Bring fairness back into the courts.\par Maybe then the Lord God All-Powerful\par will be kind to the survivors {\cf2\super [70]} \par from Joseph’s family.\par


You should let fairness flow like water\par \{through your country\}.\par Let goodness flow like a stream\par that never becomes dry.\par


All those people had great faith. And with that faith they defeated kingdoms. They did the things that are right, and they got the things that God promised. With their faith some people closed the mouths of lions.


Saul took full control of Israel. Saul fought all the enemies that lived around Israel. Saul fought Moab, the Ammonites, Edom, the king of Zobah, and the Philistines. Saul defeated Israel’s enemies wherever he went.
