Mephibosheth bowed to David again. Mephibosheth said, “I am no better than a dead dog, but you are being very kind to me.”


Elisha’s servant got up early that morning. The servant went outside, and he saw an army with horses and chariots all around the city!


David said to Gad, “I am in trouble! I don’t want some man to decide my punishment. The Lord is very merciful, so let the Lord decide how to punish me.”


Lord, you are very kind.\par Do the things you say are right,\par and let me live.\par


Lord, forgive your people.\par Then there will be people to worship you.\par


Israel, trust the Lord.\par True love is found only with the Lord.\par The Lord saves us again and again.\par And the Lord will forgive Israel for all their sins.\par \par \par


The Lord is good to every person.\par God shows his mercy to everything he made.\par


God, be merciful to me,\par because of your great loving kindness,\par because of your great mercy,\par erase all my sins.\par


Master, you are a kind and merciful God.\par You are patient, loyal, and full of love.\par


Master, you are good and merciful.\par Your people call to you for help.\par You really love those people.\par


A good man cares for his animals. But evil people can’t be kind.


“I was angry at my people.\par Those people belong to me,\par but I was angry,\par so I made them not important.\par I gave them to you,\par and you punished them.\par But you showed no mercy to them.\par You made even the old people\par work hard.\par


Evil people should stop living evil lives.\par They should stop thinking bad thoughts.\par They should come to the Lord again.\par Then the Lord will comfort them.\par Those people should come to the Lord\par because our God forgives.\par


But I will save you on that day, Ebed-Melech.’ This is the message of the Lord. ‘You won’t be given to the people you are afraid of.

“But Lord, you are kind. You forgive people for the bad things they do. And we really turned against you.

And I am very angry at the nations\par that feel so safe.\par I was a little angry,\par and I used those nations\par to punish my people.\par But those nations caused too much damage.”\par


“Now I am very troubled. What should I say? Should I say, ‘Father save me from this time \{of suffering\}’? No, I came to this time so that I could suffer.


It is hard to choose between living or dying. I want to leave this life and be with Christ. That is much better.


The Israelites saw that they were in trouble. They felt trapped. They ran away to hide in caves and cracks in the rock. They hid among the rocks, in wells, and in other holes in the ground.
