\{This is true,\} but the Lord All-Powerful did allow a few people to continue living. We were not completely destroyed like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. {\cf2\super [6]}

“Babylon is the most beautiful of all kingdoms. The Babylonian {\cf2\super [144]} people are very proud of their city.

God completely destroyed\par Sodom and Gomorrah {\cf2\super [414]} \par and the towns around them.\par \{And no person lives in those towns now.\}\par In the same way, no people\par will live in Babylon.\par And no people will ever go to live there.\par

“Ephraim, {\cf2\super [121]} I don’t want to give you up.\par Israel, I want to protect you.\par I don’t want to make you like Admah! {\cf2\super [122]} \par I don’t want to make you like Zeboiim! {\cf2\super [123]} \par I am changing my mind.\par My love for you is too strong.\par

“I destroyed you like I destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. {\cf2\super [55]} And those cities were completely destroyed. You were like a burnt stick pulled from a fire. But still you didn’t come back to me \{for help\}.” The Lord said those things.

So, as sure as I am alive, Moab and the people of Ammon will be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah. {\cf2\super [17]} I am the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel. And I promise those countries will be completely destroyed forever. Their land will be overgrown with weeds. Their land will be like the land covered with salt by the Dead Sea. The survivors of my people will take that land and all the things left in it.”

That was the time when the earth opened and swallowed Korah and all of his followers. And 250 men died! That was a warning to all the people of Israel.

And you, Capernaum, {\cf2\super [149]} will you be lifted up to heaven? No! You will be thrown down to the place of death. I did many miracles in you. If those same miracles had happened in Sodom, {\cf2\super [150]} \{the people of\} Sodom \{would have stopped sinning and it\} would still be a city today.

The things that happened to those people are examples. And those things were written to be warnings for us. We live in the time that all those past histories were pointing to.

All the land will be useless—destroyed by burning sulfur and covered with salt. The land will have nothing planted in it. Nothing will be growing—not even weeds. The land will be destroyed like Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, the cities the Lord destroyed when he was very angry.

So let us try as hard as we can to enter God’s rest. We must try hard so that none of us will be lost by following the example of those people who refused to obey God.
