¹⁶ Now, Lord God of Israel, keep your promise to your servant David. This is what you promised: You said, ‘David, you will not fail to have a man from your family sit on Israel’s throne in front of me. This will happen only if your sons are careful in what they do. They must obey my law the same as you have obeyed my law.’
