21 Ahaz took some valuable things from the Lord’s temple {\cf2\super [326]} and from the king’s house and from the prince’s house. Ahaz gave those things to the king of Assyria. But that didn’t help Ahaz.
21 For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.
21 For Ahaz took [treasure] from the house of the Lord and out of the house of the king and from the princes and gave it as tribute to the king of Assyria, but it did not help Ahaz.

21 And so Ahaz, despoiling the house of the Lord, and the house of the kings and the leaders, gave gifts to the king of the Assyrians, and yet it profited him nothing.
21 And Achaz stripped the house of the Lord, and the house of the kings, and of the princes, and gave gifts to the king of the Assyrians. And yet it availed him nothing.
Shishak attacked Jerusalem and took the treasures that were in the Lord’s temple. {\cf2\super [167]} Shishak was the king of Egypt. And he also took the treasures that were in the king’s house. Shishak took everything and carried those treasures away. He also took the gold shields that Solomon had made.
Asa took silver and gold out of the storehouses in the Lord’s temple. {\cf2\super [196]} And he took silver and gold out of the king’s house. Then Asa sent messengers to Ben Hadad. Ben Hadad was the king of Aram and he was living in the town of Damascus. Asa’s message said:
It is so easy for you to change your mind.\par Assyria disappointed you,\par \{so you left Assyria\par and went to Egypt for help.\}\par But Egypt will also disappoint you.\par
Ephraim saw his sickness,\par and Judah saw his wound.\par So they went to Assyria for help.\par They told their problems to the great king.\par But that king can’t heal you.\par He can’t cure your wound.\par
