2 Chronicles 2:4 - Easy To Read Version

4 I will build a temple {\cf2\super [11]} to honor the name of the Lord my God. At the temple we will burn incense {\cf2\super [12]} in front of the Lord, and we will always put the holy bread {\cf2\super [13]} on the special table. We will offer burnt offerings every morning and evening, every Sabbath day, every New Moon, {\cf2\super [14]} and on the other feast days that the Lord our God has commanded us to celebrate. This is a rule for the people of Israel to obey forever.

“The Lord made a promise to my father David. The Lord said, ‘I will make your son king after you. And your son will build a temple to honor me.’ Now, I plan to build that temple to honor the Lord my God.


But the Lord said to my father David, ‘I know that you want very much to build a temple to honor me. And this is good that you want to build my temple.


Solomon killed 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep. These were for the fellowship offerings. In this way, the king and the people of Israel showed that they had given the temple to the Lord.


David said, “We should build a very great temple {\cf2\super [234]} for the Lord. But my son Solomon is young and he hasn’t learned the things he needs to know. The Lord’s temple should be very great. It should be famous in all the nations because of its greatness and beauty. That is why I will make plans for building the Lord’s temple.” So David made many plans \{for building the temple\} before he died.


They offer burnt offerings {\cf2\super [172]} and burn incense {\cf2\super [173]} of spices to the Lord every morning and every evening. They put the bread in rows on the special table in the temple. {\cf2\super [174]} And they take care of the lamps on the golden lampstand so it shines bright each and every evening. We very carefully serve the Lord our God. But you people have abandoned him!


Solomon planned to build a temple {\cf2\super [10]} to give honor to the Lord’s name. Solomon also planned to build a king’s house for himself.


This money will pay for the special bread that the priests put on the table in the temple. It will pay for the daily grain offerings and burnt offerings. It will pay for the offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moon {\cf2\super [63]} festivals, and other special meetings. It will pay for the holy offerings and for the sin offerings that make the people of Israel pure. {\cf2\super [64]} It will pay for any work needed on the temple of our God.\par


There is none like you, God.\par No person can do what you have done.\par


The Lord is great and worthy of praise.\par He is more awesome than any\par of the “gods.”\par


Put the special bread [183] before me on the table. It must always be there in front of me.


“Aaron must burn sweet smelling incense [295] on the altar [296] every morning. He will do this when he comes to care for the lamps.


He took enough money with him for a long trip. He won’t come home for two weeks. {\cf2\super [9]} ”
