41 The boy left, and David came out from the place he was hiding on the other side of the hill. David bowed with his face to the ground in front of Jonathan. David bowed three times. Then David and Jonathan kissed each other. They both cried together, but David cried more than Jonathan.

Then Jacob kissed Rachel and cried.


Laban heard the news about his sister’s son Jacob. So Laban ran to meet him. Laban hugged him and kissed him and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban everything that had happened.


When Esau saw Jacob, he ran to meet him. Esau put his arms around Jacob and hugged his neck and kissed him. Then they both cried.


Joseph was the governor of Egypt at the time. And Joseph was the man who checked the sale of grain to people who came to Egypt. So, Joseph’s brothers came to him and bowed before him.


The brothers answered, “Yes sir, our father is still alive.” And they again bowed before Joseph.


Then Joseph kissed all his brothers and cried on them. After this, the brothers began talking with him.


Then, on the third day, a young soldier came to Ziklag. This man was from Saul’s camp. The man’s clothes were torn, and he had dirt on his head. [1] The man came to David and bowed with his face to the ground.

You will control the Lord’s people. You will save them from the enemies that are all around them. The Lord has anointed you to be ruler over his people. Here is a sign that will prove this is true: [105]


Jonathan and David made a special agreement because he loved him as much as he loved himself.


Jonathan gave his bow and arrows to the boy. Then Jonathan told the boy, “Go back to town.”


David said to Saul, “Why do you listen when people say, ‘David plans to hurt you’?


Just then Abigail arrived. When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey. She bowed down with her face to the ground in front of David.
