“Our God is greater than all the other gods. So I will build a great temple {\cf2\super [15]} for him.


No person can really build a house to put our God in. Not even heaven can hold God—no not even the universe can hold our God! So I cannot build a temple for God. I can only build a place to burn incense {\cf2\super [16]} to honor him.


“But we know that you, God, will not really live on the earth with people. Heaven and the highest of heavens cannot hold you! And we know that this temple {\cf2\super [102]} I built cannot hold you!


The Lord is higher than all nations.\par His glory rises to the skies.\par


Praise the Lord in the highest heaven!\par Waters above the sky, praise him!\par


Sing to God!\par He rides his chariot through\par the ancient skies.\par Listen to his powerful voice!\par


This is what the Lord says,\par “The skies are my throne.\par The earth is my footstool.\par So do you think you can build\par a house for me?\par No! You can’t!\par Can you give me a place to rest?\par No! You can’t!\par


A person might try to hide from me\par in some hiding place.\par But it is easy for me to see him.\par Why? Because I am everywhere\par in heaven and earth!”\par The Lord said these things.\par


The Word {\cf2\super [5]} became a man and lived among us. We saw his glory—the glory that belongs to the only Son of the Father. The Word was full of grace (kindness) and truth.


He is the God who made the whole world and everything in it. He is the Lord (Ruler) of the land and the sky. He does not live in temples {\cf2\super [356]} that men build!


I know a man {\cf2\super [43]} in Christ who was taken up to the third heaven. This happened 14 years ago. I don’t know if the man was in his body or out of his body. But God knows.


From this time on we don’t think of any person like the world thinks of people. It is true that in the past we thought of Christ like the world thinks. But we don’t think that way now.


“Everything belongs to the Lord your God. The heavens, even the highest heavens, belong to the Lord. The earth and everything on it belong to the Lord your God.


The Father (God) has loved us so much! This shows how much he loved us: We are called children of God. And we really are God’s children. But the people in the world (people who don’t believe) don’t understand that we are God’s children, because they have not known him (God).
