The Lord sent word through Nathan the prophet. Nathan gave Solomon the name, Jedidiah. [68] Nathan did this for the Lord.


Then David’s friend Hushai went into the city. And Absalom arrived at Jerusalem.


David’s friend, Hushai the Arkite, came to Absalom. Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”


And Ira the Jairite was David’s chief servant. [118]

Israel was divided into twelve areas called districts. Solomon chose governors to rule over each district. Each of the twelve governors was responsible for giving food to the king one month of each year.


Ahithophel was the king’s counselor. Hushai was the king’s friend. Hushai was from the Arkite people.
