30 The survivors ran away to the city of Aphek. The wall of the city fell on 27,000 of those soldiers. Ben Hadad also ran away to the city. He hid in a room.

The battle spread through all the country. But that day more men died in the forest than by the sword.


Then they came back with another message from Ben Hadad. The message said, “I will completely destroy Samaria. I promise that there will be nothing left of that city! There won’t be enough of that city left for my men to find any souvenirs [220] to take home. May God destroy me if I don’t do this!”


But each man of Israel killed the man that came against him. So the men from Aram began to run away. The army of Israel chased them. King Ben Hadad escaped on a horse from one of the chariots. [221]


So in the spring, Ben Hadad gathered the people of Aram. He went to Aphek to fight against Israel.


The armies were camped across from each other for seven days. On the seventh day the battle began. The Israelites killed 100,000 soldiers of Aram in one day.


Micaiah answered, “Soon trouble will come. At that time, you will go and hide in a small room. And you will know that I am speaking the truth!”


The worshipers of Baal went into the temple of Baal to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings.


When you arrive there, find Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. Then go in and make him get up from among his brothers. Take him to an inner room.


Micaiah answered, “Zedekiah, you will find out on the day you go to hide in an inside room!”

You are guilty of these things so you are like a tall wall with cracks in it. That wall will fall and break into small pieces.


People will be afraid and run away,\par and they will fall into the deep holes.\par If anyone climbs out of the deep holes,\par he will be caught in the traps.\par I will bring the year of punishment\par to Moab.”\par The Lord said these things.\par


Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, give praise, honor, and glory to the King of Heaven. Everything he does is right. He is always fair. And he is able to make proud people humble!


You will be like a man\par that escapes a lion\par only to be attacked by a bear!\par You will be like a man\par that goes into the safety of his house,\par leans against the wall,\par and is bitten by a snake!\par


If they hide at the top of Mount Carmel, {\cf2\super [112]} \par I will find them there,\par and I will take them from that place.\par If they try to hide from me\par at the bottom of the sea,\par I will command the snake,\par and it will bite them.\par
