1 Corinthians 1:26 - Easy To Read Version

26 Brothers and sisters, God called (chose) you. Think about that! And not many of you were wise in the way the world judges wisdom. Not many of you had great influence. Not many of you came from important families.

That is why people respect God.\par But God doesn’t respect proud people\par that think they are wise.”\par


I will let only meek and humble people stay in my city (Jerusalem). And they will trust the Lord’s name.


I myself studied everything carefully from the beginning, your Excellency. {\cf2\super [1]} Then I thought I should write it for you. So I put it in order in a book.


Then the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [190]} made Jesus feel very happy. Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. I praise you because you have hidden these things from the wise and smart people. But you have shown these things to people that are like little children. Yes, Father, you did this because this is what you really wanted to do.


When the governor (Sergius Paulus) saw this, he believed. He was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.


Barjesus always stayed close to Sergius Paulus, the governor. Sergius Paulus was a wise man. He asked Barnabas and Saul to come to him. He wanted to hear the message {\cf2\super [253]} of God.


But some of the people believed Paul and joined him. One of the people that believed was Dionysius. He was a member of the Areopagus council. {\cf2\super [357]} Another person who believed was a woman named Damaris. There were also some other people that believed.


God never changes his mind about the people he calls and the things he gives them. And God never takes back his call to the people.


Where is the wise person? Where is the educated person? Where is the philosopher {\cf2\super [7]} of this time? God has made the wisdom of the world foolish.


When we speak these things, we don’t use words taught to us by the wisdom that men have. We use words taught to us by the Spirit. We use spiritual words to explain spiritual things.


None of the rulers of this world understood this wisdom. If they had understood it, then they would not have killed our glorious Lord on a cross.


All of God’s people say hello to you. And those believers from Caesar’s {\cf2\super [25]} palace say hello, too.


Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor people in the world to be rich with faith. He chose them to receive the kingdom God promised to people who love him.
