He is higher than heaven, and what wilt thou do? He is deeper than hell, and how wilt thou know?


O Lord, Lord, the strength of my salvation: thou hast overshadowed my head in the day of battle.


And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.


The Lord shall be known when he executeth judgments: the sinner hath been caught in the works of his own hands.


Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the children of men?


Hell and destruction are never filled: so the eyes of men are never satisfied.


Hell below was in an uproar to meet thee at thy coming: it stirred up the giants for thee. All the princes of the earth are risen up from their thrones, all the princes of nations.


Therefore hath hell enlarged her soul and opened her mouth without any bounds: and their strong ones and their people and their high and glorious ones shall go down into it.


You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh, for the dead: neither shall you make in yourselves any figures or marks. I am the Lord.


Though they go down even to hell, thence shall my hand bring them out: and though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down.


All the time of his consecration he shall not go in to any dead.


And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.


And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom:


Saying: Let us alone, what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God.


So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it shall rise in incorruption.


A fire is kindled in my wrath, and shall burn even to the lowest hell: and shall devour the earth with her increase, and shall burn the foundations of the mountains.


And alive, and was dead, and behold I am living for ever and ever, and have the keys of death and of hell.


And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hell gave up their dead that were in them; and they were judged every one according to their works.
