And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth),


And the king and all the men that were with him went to Jerusalem to the Jebusites the inhabitants of the land. And they said to David: Thou shalt not come in hither unless thou take away the blind and the lame that say: David shall not come in hither.


And behold a prophet coming to Achab king of Israel said to him: Thus saith the Lord: Hast thou seen all this exceeding great multitude? Behold, I will deliver them into thy hand this day: that thou mayest know that I am the Lord.


God hath given him place for penance: and he abuseth it unto pride. But his eyes are upon his ways.


lest at any time my enemy say: I have prevailed against him. They that trouble me will rejoice when I am moved:


Lift up thy hands against their pride unto the end; see what things the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.


So the wage of every covetous man destroy the souls of the possessors.


The path of life is above for the wise, that he may decline from the lowest hell.


Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways:


Whose ways are perverse, and their steps infamous.


Seek not to be like evil men, neither desire to be with them:


WOE to them that make wicked laws: and, when they write, write injustice:


Lord, let thy hand be exalted, and let them not see: let the envious people see, and be confounded: and let fire devour thy enemies.


For you have said: We have entered into a league with death, and we have made a covenant with hell. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come upon us: for we have placed our hope in lies, and by falsehood we are protected.


And he hath poured out upon him the indignation of his fury, and a strong battle: and hath burnt him round about, and he knew not: and set him on fire, and he understood not.


The harp and the lyre and the timbrel and the pipe and wine are in your feasts: and the work of the Lord you regard not, nor do you consider the works of his hands.


Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I will hear him, and I will make him flourish like a green fir tree: from me is thy fruit found.


They have sinned deeply, as in the days of Gabaa: he will remember their iniquity, and will visit their sin.


Destruction and misery in their ways:


Went out into the fields, wasting the vineyards, and treading down the grapes. And singing and dancing they went into the temple of their god, and in their banquets and cups they cursed Abimelech.


And Zebul said to him: Where is now thy mouth wherewith thou saidst: Who is Abimelech that we should serve him? Is not this the people which thou didst despise? Go out, and fight against him.
