And the Lord said to him: Go in thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee I have seen just before me in this generation.


The offspring of his house shall be exposed: he shall be pulled down in the day of God's wrath.


Treasures of wickedness shall profit nothing: but justice shall deliver from death.


In the path of justice is life: but the by-way leadeth to death.


Because the jealousy and rage of the husband will not spare in the day of revenge,


What will you do in the day of visitation, and of the calamity which cometh from afar? To whom will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your glory?


And if these three men, Noe, Daniel and Job, shall be in it: they shall deliver their own souls by their justice, saith the Lord of hosts.


Their silver shall be cast forth and their gold shall become a dunghill. Their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord. They shall not satisfy their soul and their bellies shall not be filled: because it hath been the stumbling-block of their iniquity.


Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: all the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy, for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them that dwell in the land.


For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?


But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee: and whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?


For if by one man's offence death reigned through one; much more they who receive abundance of grace, and of the gift, and of justice, shall reign in life through one, Jesus Christ.


For bodily exercise is profitable to little: but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
