But he that did not lie in wait for him, but God delivered him into his hands: I will appoint thee a place to which he must flee.


Determine what cities shall be for the refuge of fugitives, who have shed blood against their will.


If through hatred any one push a man; or fling any thing at him with ill design:


Or being his enemy, strike him with his hand, and he die: the striker shall be guilty of murder. The kinsman of him that was slain, as soon as he findeth him, shall kill him.


And enmity, he do any of these things:


But to have gone with him to the wood to hew wood, and in cutting down the tree the axe slipped out of his hand, and the iron slipping from the handle struck his friend, and killed him: he shall flee to one of the cities aforesaid, and live:


That whosoever shall kill a person unawares may flee to them: and may escape the wrath of the kinsman, who is the avenger of blood.


And when the avenger of blood shall pursue him, they shall not deliver him into his hands, because he slew his neighbour unawares, and is not proved to have been his enemy two or three days before.
