Now giants were upon the earth in those days. For after the sons of God went in to the daughters of men, and they brought forth children, these are the mighty men of old, men of renown.


And he slew an Egyptian, whose stature was of five cubits, and who had a spear like a weaver's beam. And he went down to him with a staff, and plucked away the spear, that he held in his hand, and slew him with his own spear.


It is he that sitteth upon the globe of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as locusts: he that stretcheth out the heavens as nothing and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.


And when they were gone up, they viewed the land, from the desert of Sin, unto Rohob, as you enter into Emath.


And they related and said: We came into the land to which thou sentest us, which in very deed floweth with milk and honey as may be known by these fruits.


Therefore the whole multitude crying wept that night.


Whither shall we go up? The messengers have terrified our hearts, saying: The multitude is very great, and taller than we. The cities are great, and walled up to the sky. We have seen the sons of the Enacims there.


The Emims first were the inhabitants thereof: a people great, and strong, and so tall, that like the race of the Enacims


For only Og king of Basan remained of the race of the giants. His bed of iron is shewn, which is in Rabbath of the children of Ammon, being nine cubits long, and four broad after the measure of the cubit of a man's hand.


A People great and tall, the sons of the Enacims, whom thou hast seen, and heard of, against whom no man is able to stand.


At that time Josue came and cut off the Enacims from the mountains, from Hebron, and Dabir, and Anab, and from all the mountain of Juda and Israel, and destroyed their cities.


Give me therefore this mountain, which the Lord promised, in thy hearing also, wherein are the Enacims, and cities great and strong: if so be the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to destroy them, as he promised me.


And Caleb destroyed out of it the three sons of Enac, Sesai and Ahiman, and Tholmai of the race of Enac.


And all the Israelites, when they saw the man, fled from his face, fearing him exceedingly.


And when the Philistine looked, and beheld David, he despised him. For he was a young man, ruddy, and of a comely countenance.
