Jesbibenob, who was of the race of Arapha, the iron of whose spear weighed three hundred ounces, being girded with a new sword, attempted to kill David.


And they spoke ill of the land, which they had viewed, before the children of Israel, saying: The land which we have viewed devoureth its inhabitants. The people, that we beheld, are of a tall stature.


Whither shall we go up? The messengers have terrified our hearts, saying: The multitude is very great, and taller than we. The cities are great, and walled up to the sky. We have seen the sons of the Enacims there.


A people great and many, and of tall stature, like the Enacims whom the Lord destroyed before their face. And he made them to dwell in their stead,


All the cities were fenced with very high walls, and with gates and bars: besides innumerable towns that had no walls.


He left not any of the stock of the Enacims, in the land of the children of Israel: except the cities of Gaza, and Geth, and Azotus, in which alone they were left.


Give me therefore this mountain, which the Lord promised, in thy hearing also, wherein are the Enacims, and cities great and strong: if so be the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to destroy them, as he promised me.


And Caleb destroyed out of it the three sons of Enac, Sesai and Ahiman, and Tholmai of the race of Enac.


And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said: who destroyed out of it the three sons of Enac.
