For Esdras had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do and to teach in Israel the commandments and judgment.


I Artaxerxes the king have ordered and decreed to all the keepers of the public chest, that are beyond the river, that whatsoever Esdras the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, you give it without delay:


This Esdras went up from Babylon, and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God had given to Israel. And the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.


The fruit of the just man is a tree of life: and he that gaineth souls, is wise.


The lips of the wise shall disperse knowledge: the heart of fools shall be unlike.


Words from the mouth of a men are as deep water: and the fountain of wisdom as an overflowing stream.


The mandrakes give a smell. In our gates are all fruits: the new and the old, my beloved, I have kept for thee.


A good man out of a good treasure bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of an evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.


Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.


And it came to pass: when Jesus had finished these parables, he passed from thence.


Therefore behold I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you will put to death and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:


Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.


For this cause also the wisdom of God said: I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute.


A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another.


As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as needy, yet enriching many; as having nothing, and possessing all things.


As you reading, may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ,


To me, the least of all the saints, is given this grace, to preach among the Gentiles, the unsearchable riches of Christ,


As you learned of Epaphras, our most beloved fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ Jesus;


Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly, in all wisdom: teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God.


Not a neophyte: lest being puffed up with pride, he fall into the judgment of the devil.


Embracing that faithful word which is according to doctrine, that he may be able to exhort in sound doctrine, and to convince the gainsayers.
