Abraham made haste into the tent to Sara, and said to her: Make haste, temper together three measures of flour, and make cakes upon the hearth.


So Amnon lay down, and made as if he were sick: and when the king came to visit him, Amnon said to the king: I pray thee let my sister Thamar come, and make in my sight two little messes, that I may eat at her hand.


And the just man shall hold on his way: and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.


But the path of the just, as a shining light, goeth forwards and increaseth even to perfect day.


He will revive us after two days: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. We shall know, and we shall follow on, that we may know the Lord. His going forth is prepared as the morning light, and he will come to us as the early and the latter rain to the earth.


Another parable he proposed to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seeds in his field.


And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect which he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.


It is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.


Every branch in me, that beareth not fruit, he will take away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit.


A little leaven corrupteth the whole lump.


Being confident of this very thing, that he, who hath begun a good work in you, will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus.


And this I pray, that your charity may more and more abound in knowledge, and in all understanding:


But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and unto the day of eternity. Amen.


So Gedeon went in, and boiled a kid, and made unleavened loaves of a measure of flour: and putting the flesh in a basket, and the broth of the flesh into a pot, he carried all under the oak, and presented to him.


And after she had weaned him, she carried him with her, with three calves, and three bushels of flour, and a bottle of wine, and she brought him to the house of the Lord in Silo. Now the child was as yet very young.
