The spirit of the Lord hath spoken by me: and his word by my tongue.


And thou didst forbear with them for many years, and didst testify against them by thy spirit, by the hand of thy prophets. And they heard not, and thou didst deliver them into the hand of the people of the lands.


Alleluia. I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; in the council of the just: and in the congregation.


Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool: nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king:


Men, brethren, the scripture must needs be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was the leader of them that apprehended Jesus:


And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, Paul speaking this one word: Well did the Holy Ghost speak to our fathers by Isaias the prophet,


For he must reign, until he hath put all his enemies under his feet.


All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice,


But to which of the angels said he at any time: Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool?


Again he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time, as it is above said: To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts.


Searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them did signify: when it foretold those sufferings that are in Christ, and the glories that should follow:


For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.
