And they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And there they spoke to him, saying: Save thy life: look not back, neither stay thou in all the country about: but save thyself in the mountain, lest thou be also consumed.


And his wife looking behind her was turned into a statue of salt.


The prudent man saw the evil, and hid himself: the simple passed on, and suffered loss.


But when Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon came up to our land, we said: Come, let us go into Jerusalem, from the face of the army of the Chaldeans and from the face of the army of Syria: and we have remained in Jerusalem.


And when he was come to the gate of Benjamin, the captain of the gate, who I was there in his turn, was one named Jerias, the son of Selemias, the son of Hananias: and he took hold of Jeremias the prophet, saying: Thou art fleeing to the Chaldeans.


Strengthen yourselves, ye sons of Benjamin, in the midst of Jerusalem, and sound the trumpet in Thecua, and set up the standard over Bethacarem: for evil is seen out of the north, and a great destruction.


He said to the multitude: Depart from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be involved in their sins.


WHEN Jesus therefore was born in Bethlehem of Juda, in the days of king Herod, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.


Then they that are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains:


And let him that is on the housetop, not go down into the house, nor enter therein to take any thing out of the house:


And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: Go out from her, my people; that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues.
