And he said to his brethren: Bring hither stones. And they gathering stones together, made a heap, and they ate upon it.


And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord: and rising in the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mount, and twelve titles according to the twelve tribes of Israel.


And when you are passed over the Jordan into the land which the Lord thy God will give thee, thou shalt set up great stones, and shalt plaster them over with plaster:


Hear, O Israel: Thou shalt go over the Jordan this day, to possess nations very great, and stronger than thyself, cities great, and walled up to the sky:


And when they were come to the banks of the Jordan, in the land of Chanaan, they built an altar immensely great near the Jordan.


And Josue called twelve men, whom he had chosen out of the children of Israel, one out of every tribe.


That it may be a sign among you: and when your children shall ask you to-morrow, saying: What mean these stones?
