These are the names of the valiant men of David. Jesbaham sitting in the chair was the wisest chief among the three: he was like the most tender little worm of the wood; who killed eight hundred men at one onset.


Gave them help. And the Agarites were delivered into their hands, and all that were with them, because they called upon God in the battle: and he heard them, because they had put their faith in him.


And many fell down slain: for it was the battle of the Lord. And they dwelt in their stead till the captivity.

Sing praises to our God, sing ye: sing praises to our king, sing ye.


The Lord will fight for you: and you shall hold your peace.


A thousand men shall flee for fear of one: and for fear of five shall you flee, till you be left, as the mast of a ship on the top of a mountain and as an ensign upon a hill.


You shall pursue your enemies: and they shall fall before you.


Five of yours shall pursue a hundred others, and a hundred of you ten thousand. Your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.


In that day shall the Lord protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and he that hath offended among them in that day shall be as David: and the house of David, as that of God, as an angel of the Lord in their sight.


What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who is against us?


Hear, O Israel. You join battle this day against your enemies: let not your heart be dismayed, be not afraid, do not give back, fear ye them not:


Because the Lord your God is in the midst of you, and will fight for you against your enemies, to deliver you from danger.


The Lord shall cause thy enemies, that rise up against thee, to fall down before thy face. One way shall they come out against thee, and seven ways shall they flee before thee.


Fear them not: for the Lord your God will fight for you.


And he said: I will hide my face from them, and will consider what their last end shall be. For it is a perverse generation, and unfaithful children.


How should one pursue after a thousand, and two chase ten thousand? Was it not, because their God had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up?


And all their kings, and their lands he took and wasted at one onset: for the Lord the God of Israel fought for him.


This only take care of with all diligence, that you love the Lord your God.


And you see all that the Lord your God hath done to all the nations round about: how he himself hath fought for you.

After him was Samgar the son of Anath, who slew of the Philistines six hundred men with a ploughshare. And he also defended Israel.


And Jonathan said to the young man that bore his armour: Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be the Lord will do for us, because it is easy for the Lord to save either by many, or by few.
