This is the sum of the expenses, which king Solomon offered to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and Mello, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Heser, and Mageddo, and Gazer.


Pharao the king of Egypt came up and took Gazer, and burnt it with fire: and slew the Chanaanite that dwelt in the city: and gave it for a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife.


Their children, that were left in the land, to wit, such as the children of Israel had not been able to destroy, Solomon made tributary unto this day.


Of their children, and of the posterity, whom the children of Israel had not slain, Solomon made to be the tributaries, unto this day.


At that time Horam, king of Gazer, came up to succour Lachis: and Josue slew him with all his people, so as to leave none alive.


But the children of Juda could not destroy the Jebusite that dwelt in Jerusalem. And the Jebusite dwelt with the children of Juda in Jerusalem until this present day.


And there were cities with their villages separated for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the possession of the children of Manasses.


Neither could the children of Manasses overthrow these cities: but the Chanaanite began to dwell in his land.


But after that the children of Israel were grown strong, they subdued the Chanaanites, and made them their tributaries: and they did not kill them.


Ephraim also did not slay the Chanaanite that dwelt in Gazer, but dwelt with him.
