But thou, a forgiving God, gracious, and merciful, long-suffering, and full of compassion, didst not forsake them.


The wicked man impudently hardeneth his face: but he that is righteous, correcteth his way.


And I will make it desolate. It shall not be pruned and it shall not be digged: but briers and thorns shall come up. And I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.


The word of the Lord that came to Jeremias, concerning the words of the drought.


Are there any among the graven things of the Gentiles that can send rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou the Lord our God, whom we have looked for? For thou hast made all these things.


The great ones sent their inferiors to the water: they came to draw, they found no water, they carried back their vessels empty: they were confounded and afflicted, and covered their heads.


For the destruction of the land, because there came no rain upon the earth, the husbandmen were confounded: they covered their heads.


Take thee a roll of a book: and thou shalt write in it all the words that I have spoken to thee against Israel and Juda and against all the nations, from the day that I spoke to thee, from the days of Josias even to this day.


And they have not said in their heart: Let us fear the Lord our God, who giveth us the early and the latter rain in due season: who preserveth for us the fullness of the yearly harvest.


Your iniquities have turned these things away, and your sins have withholden good things from you.


O Lord, thy eyes are upon truth: thou hast struck them, and they have not grieved: thou hast bruised them, and they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than the rock and they have refused to return.

I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon: and the piece whereupon I rained not, withered.


And two and three cities went to one city to drink water, and were not filled: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.


Assemble yourselves together, be gathered together, O nation not worthy to be loved:


The just Lord is in the midst thereof, he will not do iniquity: in the morning, in the morning he will bring his judgment to light, and it shall not be hid: but the wicked man hath not known shame.


And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon all that the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon beasts, and upon all the labour of the hands.


Be the heaven, that is over thee, of brass: and the ground thou treadest on, of iron.


See that you refuse him not that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke upon the earth, much more shall not we, that turn away from him that speaketh to us from heaven.
