And the Lord smelled a sweet savour, and said: I will no more curse the earth for the sake of man: for the imagination and thought of man's heart are prone to evil from his youth: therefore I will no more destroy every living soul as I have done.


Moreover also the stranger, who is not of thy people Israel, when he shall come out of a far country for thy name's sake, (for they shall hear every where of thy great name and thy mighty hand,


Remember not our former iniquities: let thy mercies speedily prevent us, for we are become exceeding poor.


Let my prayer come in before thee: incline thy ear to my petition.


And in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, we have patiently waited for thee: thy name, and thy remembrance are the desire of the soul.


And the children of the stranger that adhere to the Lord, to worship him and to love his name, to be his servants; every one that keepeth the sabbath from profaning it and that holdeth fast my covenant:


And they from the west shall fear the name of the Lord: and they from the rising of the sun, his glory: when he shall come as a violent stream which the spirit of the Lord driveth on:


IN the year that king Ozias died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and elevated: and his train filled the temple.


THUS saith the Lord: Heaven is my throne, and the earth my footstool. What is this house that you will build to me? And what is this place of my rest?


But I know their works and their thoughts. I come that I may gather them together with all nations and tongues: and they shall come and shall see my glory.


And they shall bring all your brethren out of all nations for a gift to the Lord, upon horses and in chariots and in litters and on mules and in coaches, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as if the children of Israel should bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.


And they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear: but walked every one in the perverseness of his own wicked heart. And I brought upon them all the words of this covenant which I commanded them to do: but they did them not.


And when I shall have plucked them out, I will return and have mercy on them: and I will bring them back, every man to his inheritance and every man to his land.


And it shall come to pass, if they will be taught and will learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name: The Lord liveth, as they have taught my people to swear by Baal: that they shall be built up in the midst of my people.


Give us not to be a reproach, for thy name's sake, and do not disgrace in us the throne of thy glory. Remember, break not thy covenant with us.


And you also have done worse than your fathers: for, behold, every one of you walketh after the perverseness of his evil heart, so as not to hearken to me.


O Lord, my might and my strength and my refuge in the day of tribulation: to thee the Gentiles shall come from the ends of the earth and shall say: Surely our fathers have possessed lies, a vanity which hath not profited them.


A high and glorious throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctification:


And they said: We have no hopes, for we will go after our own thoughts and we will do every one according to the perverseness of his evil heart.


But I said: How shall I put thee among the children and give thee a lovely land, the goodly inheritance of the armies of the Gentiles? And I said: Thou shalt call me father and shalt cease to walk after me.


Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: As yet shall they say this word in the land of Juda and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring back their captivity: The Lord bless thee, the beauty of justice, the holy mountain.


And it shall be to me a name and a joy and a praise and a gladness before all the nations of the earth that shall hear of all the good things which I will do to them: and they shall fear and be troubled for all the good things and for all the peace that I will make for them.


And thou shalt swear: As the Lord liveth in truth and in judgement and in justice: and the Gentiles shall bless him and shall praise him.


But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear: but walked in their own will and in the perversity of their wicked heart, and went backward and not forward,


But they have gone after the perverseness of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them.


And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of the sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as of the appearance of a man above upon it.


Said to me: Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever: and the house of Israel shall no more profane my holy name, they and their kings by their fornications, and by the carcasses of their kings, and by the high places.


Its circumference was eighteen thousand: and the name of the city from that day, The Lord is there.


And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall be my people, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me to thee.


And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God in truth and in justice.


That when they shall see them, they may remember all the commandments of the Lord, and not follow their own thoughts and eyes going astray after divers things.


Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God, or given thanks; but became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.


For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace.


But that Jerusalem, which is above, is free: which is our mother.


Secret things to the Lord our God: things that are manifest, to us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.


But after the judge was dead, they returned, and did much worse things than their fathers had done, following strange gods, serving them and adoring them. They left not their own inventions, and the stubborn way, by which they were accustomed to walk.
