And he took twelve stones according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord came, saying: Israel shall be thy name.


And they offered, at the dedication of the house of God, a, hundred calves, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs: and for a sin-offering for all Israel twelve he-goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.


And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord: and rising in the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mount, and twelve titles according to the twelve tribes of Israel.


And they shall have the names of the children of Israel: with twelve names shall they be engraved, each stone with the name of one according to the twelve tribes.


And the twelve stones were engraved with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel, each one with its several name.


And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have dispersed them among the nations, and scattered them in the countries.


And I will scatter you among the Gentiles: and I will draw out the sword after you. And your land shall be desert, and your cities destroyed.


James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus,


Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude:


And Jesus said to them: Amen, I say to you, that you, who have followed me, in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the seat of his majesty, you also shall sit on twelve seats judging the twelve tribes of Israel.


And Andrew and Philip, and Bartholomew and Matthew, and Thomas and James of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Cananean:


That you may eat and drink at my table, in my kingdom: and may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.


Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon who is called Zelotes,


If any man minister to me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.


The Jews therefore said among themselves: Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?


And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Jude the brother of James.


But he beckoning to them with his hand to hold their peace, told how the Lord had brought him out of prison, and he said: Tell these things to James, and to the brethren. And going out, he went into another place.


And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying: Men, brethren, hear me.


For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him in the synagogues, where he is read every sabbath.


Writing by their hands: The apostles and ancients, brethren, to the brethren of the Gentiles that are at Antioch, and in Syria and Cilicia, greeting.


Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.


And the day following, Paul went in with us unto James; and all the ancients were assembled.


Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor, Felix, greeting.


Unto which, our twelve tribes, serving night and day, hope to come. For which hope, O king, I am accused by the Jews.


AND at that time there was raised a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all dispersed through the countries of Judea, and Samaria, except the apostles.


PAUL, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,


But other of the apostles I saw none, saving James the brother of the Lord.


For before that some came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them who were of the circumcision.


And when they had known the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship: that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision:


The Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the farthest parts of the earth to the ends thereof. And there thou shalt serve strange gods, which both thou art ignorant of and thy fathers, wood and stone.


The Lord thy God will bring back again thy captivity, and will have mercy on thee, and gather thee again out of all the nations, into which he scattered thee before.


I said: Where are they? I will make the memory of them to cease from among men.


And scatter you among all nations: and you shall remain a few among the nations, to which the Lord shall lead you.
