And the father acknowledging it, said: It is my son's coat; an evil wild beast hath eaten him; a beast hath devoured Joseph.


And alibis children being gathered together to comfort their father in his sorrow, he would not receive comfort, but said: I will go down to my son into hell, mourning. And whilst he continued weeping,


Their father Jacob said: You have made me to be without children: Joseph is not living, Simeon is kept in bonds, and Benjamin you will take away. All these evils are fallen upon me.


And they told him, saying: Joseph thy son is living: and he is ruler in all the land of Egypt. Which when Jacob heard, he awaked as it were out of a deep sleep, yet did not believe them.


For Israel's eyes were dim by reason of his great age, and he could not see clearly. And when they were brought to him, he kissed and embraced them.


And when Joseph had taken them from his father's lap, he bowed down with his face to the ground.


Let them be as grass on the tops of houses: which withered before it be plucked up:


Children's children are the crown of old men: and the glory of children are their fathers.


Now to him who is able to do all things more abundantly than we desire or understand, according to the power that worketh in us;
