Now therefore let the king provide a wise and industrious man, and make him ruler over the land of Egypt,


That shall now presently ensue. And let all the corn be laid up under Pharao's hands, and be reserved in the cities.


That you may have corn. The fifth part you shall give to the king: the other four you shall have for seed, and for food for your families and children.


From that time unto this day, in the whole land of Egypt, the fifth part is paid to the king: and it is become as a law, except the land of the priests, which was free from this covenant.


And they did all faithfully. Now the overseers of the workmen were Jahath and Abdias of the sons of Merari, Zacharias and Mosollam of the sons of Caath, who hastened the work: all Levites skilful to play on instruments.


And Joel the son of Zechri their ruler: and Judas the son of Senua was second over the city.


In famine he shall deliver thee from death: and in battle, from the hand of the sword.


The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a contrite heart: and he will save the humble of spirit.


The prudent man saw the evil, and hid himself: the simple passed on, and suffered loss.


The prudent man seeing evil hideth himself: little ones passing on have suffered losses.


And Moses being angry with the chief officers of the army, the tribunes, and the centurions that were come from the battle,


Therefore calling together every one of his lord's debtors, he said to the first: How much dost thou owe my lord?
