And the Egyptians pressed the people to go forth out of the land speedily, saying: We shall all die.


Let them not dwell in thy land, lest perhaps thy make thee sin against me, if thou serve their gods: which undoubtedly will be a scandal to thee.


And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, who have stretched forth my hand upon Egyp; and have brought forth the children of Israel out of the midst of them.


And the magicians said to Pharao: This is the finger of God. And Pharao heart was hardened: and he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had commanded.


A snare shall entangle the wicked man when he sinneth: and the just shall praise and rejoice.


I have surveyed all things with my mind, to know, and consider, and seek out wisdom and reason: and to know the wickedness of the fool, and the error of the imprudent:


Thou shalt not keep company with them, even in burial: for thou hast destroyed thy land, thou hast slain thy people: the seed of the wicked shall not be named for ever.


Arise, arise, put on strength, O thou arm of the Lord: arise as in the days of old, in the ancient generations. Hast not thou struck the proud one, and wounded the dragon?


Moab is destroyed: proclaim a cry for her little ones.


Babylon is suddenly fallen, and destroyed: howl for her, take balm for her pain, if so she may be healed.


Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: all the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy, for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them that dwell in the land.


And this I speak for your profit: not to cast a snare upon you; but for that which is decent, and which may give you power to attend upon the Lord, without impediment.


Know ye for a certainty that the Lord your God will not destroy them before your face: but they shall be a pit and a snare in your way, and a stumbling-block at your side, and stakes in your eyes, till he take you away and destroy you from off this excellent land, which he hath given you.


And Saul said: I will give her to him, that she may be a stumbling-block to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be upon him. And Saul said to David: In two things thou shalt be my son-in-law this day.


They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines: and they said: Send away the ark of the God of Israel; and let it return into its own place, and not kill us and our people.
