And the king of Egypt spoke to the midwives of the Hebrews, of whom one was called Sephora, the other Phua,


Pharao therefore charged all his people, saying: Whatsoever shall be born of the male sex, ye shall cast into the river: whatsoever of the female, ye shall save alive.


But the husbandmen seeing the son, said among themselves: This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and we shall have his inheritance.


This same dealing craftily with our race, afflicted our fathers, that they should expose their children, to the end they might not be kept alive.


By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his parents; because they saw he was a comely babe, and they feared not the king's edict.


And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered; that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her son.
