Writing in the letter: Set ye Urias in the front of the battle, where the fight is strongest: and leave ye him, that he may be wounded and die.


God hath given him place for penance: and he abuseth it unto pride. But his eyes are upon his ways.


For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done?


The Lord trieth the just and the wicked: but he that loveth iniquity hateth his own soul.


And when he passed before him, he said: O the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, patient and of much compassion, and true,


And Pharao seeing that rest was given hardened his own heart, and did not hear them as the Lord had commanded.


And Pharao's heart was hardened, so that neither this time would he let the people go.


This is a very great evil among all things that are done under the sun, that the same things happen to all men: whereby also the hearts of the children of men are filled with evil, and with contempt while they live, and afterwards they shall be brought down to hell.


Let us have pity on the wicked: but he will not learn justice. In the land of the saints he hath done wicked things: and he shall not see the glory of the Lord.


For whom hast thou been solicitous and afraid, that thou hast lied and hast not been mindful of me, nor thought on me in thy heart? For I am silent and as one that seeth not: and thou hast forgotten me.


For this now hear the word of the Lord, ye remnant of Juda: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: If you set your faces to go into Egypt and enter in to dwell there:


Moab hath been fruitful from his youth and hath rested upon his lees: and hath not been poured out from vessel to vessel, nor hath gone into captivity. Therefore his taste hath remained in him and his scent is not changed.
