And he said to them: Go, eat fat meats, and drink sweet wine, and send portions to them that have not prepared for themselves; because it is the holy day of the Lord, and be not sad. For the joy of the Lord is our strength.


And I have known that there was no better thing than to rejoice, and to do well in this life.


For every man that eateth and drinketh, and seeth good of his labour, this is the gift of God.


And every man to whom God hath given riches, and substance, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to enjoy his portion, and to rejoice of his labour: this is the gift of God.


Consider the works of God, that no man can correct whom he hath despised.


Behold, my servants shall rejoice, and you shall be confounded: behold, my servants shall praise for joyfulness of heart, and you shall cry for sorrow of heart and shall howl for grief of spirit.


For what is the good thing of him, and what is his beautiful thing, but the corn of the elect, and wine springing forth virgins?


If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we reap your carnal things?


There shall you feast before the Lord your God, you and your sons and your daughters, your men-servants and maid-servants, and the Levite that dwelleth in your cities. For he hath no other part and possession among you.


But thou shalt eat them before the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, thou and thy son and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and maid-servant, and the Levite that dwelleth in thy cities. And thou shalt rejoice and be refreshed before the Lord thy God in all things, whereunto thou shalt put thy hand.


And you shall eat there in the sight of the Lord your God: and you shall rejoice in all things, whereunto you shall put your hand, you and your houses wherein the Lord your God hath blessed you.


And thou shalt feast before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger and the fatherless, and the widow, who abide with you: in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, that his name may dwell there.


And shalt immolate peace-victims, and eat there, and feast before the Lord thy God.


Because thou didst not serve the Lord thy God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things:


Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I say, rejoice.
