And his mother said to him: Upon me be this curse, my son: Only hear thou my voice, and go, fetch me the things which I have said.


I take the boy upon me; require him at my hand. Unless I bring him again, and restore him to thee, I will be guilty of sin against thee for ever.


And the king said: If any one shall say aught against thee, bring him to me; and be shall not touch thee any more.


And the king said to the woman: Go to thy house; and I will give charge concerning thee.


And their blood shall return the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever. But to David and his seed and his house, and to his throne be peace for ever from the Lord.


Defile not the land of your habitation, which is stained with the blood of the innocent. Neither can it otherwise be expiated, but by his blood that hath shed the blood of another.


And the whole people answering, said: His blood be upon us and our children.


And she fell at his feet, and said: Upon me let this iniquity be, my lord. Let thy handmaid speak, I beseech thee, in thy ears: and hear the words of thy servant.
