And I became as a man that heareth not: and that hath no reproofs in his mouth.


For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me: and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me.


The princes of the people are gathered together, with the God of Abraham: for the strong gods of the earth are exceedingly exalted.


God shall reign over the nations: God sitteth on his holy throne.


In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:


That you be not bowed down under the bond, and fall with the slain? In all these things his anger is not turned away: but his hand is stretched out still.


It is he that giveth strength to the weary, and increaseth force and might to them that are not.


Now when the army of the Chaldeans was gone away from Jerusalem, because of Pharao's army,


Because the spoiler is come upon her, that is, upon Babylon, and her valiant men are taken, and their bow is weakened: because the Lord, who is a strong revenger, will surely repay.


And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee; for power is made perfect in infirmity. Gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in me.


Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of justice,


I can do all these things in him who strengtheneth me.


And what shall I yet say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, Barac, Samson, Jephthe, David, Samuel, and the prophets:


Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, recovered strength from weakness, became valiant in battle, put to flight the armies of foreigners:
