The Lord said: These people approach me with their speeches to honour me with lip-service, yet their hearts are far from me, and human rules direct their worship of me.


They worship me in vain, eaching as doctrines human commands.’   ,


They worship me in vain, teaching   as doctrines   human commands.   ,


But now, since you know God,  or rather have become known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless  elements?  Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?


All these regulations refer to what is destined to perish by being used up; they are human commands and doctrines.


They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.


For you know that such a person has gone astray and is sinning; he is self-condemned.


See to it that you do not reject the one who speaks. For if they did not escape when they rejected him who warned them on earth, even less will we if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven.


It has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog returns to its own vomit,   , and, ‘A washed sow returns to wallowing in the mud.’
