‘You speak to us, and we will listen,’ they said to Moses, ‘but don’t let God speak to us, or we will die.’


I will give them, in my house and within my walls, a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters. I will give each of them an everlasting name that will never be cut off.


I thought, ‘How I long to make you my sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance  of all the nations.’ I thought, ‘You will call me “My Father” and never turn away from me.’


Then the Israelites declared to Moses, ‘Look, we’re perishing! We’re lost; we’re all lost!


So I was afraid and went off and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.”


And he said, ‘Abba,   Father!   All things are possible   for you. Take this cup   away from me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will.’


He said to them, ‘Whenever you pray, say, Father,   , your name   be honoured as holy. Your kingdom come.   ,


‘Father, if you are willing, take this cup   away from me #– #nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.’


When he saw Jesus, he cried out,  fell down before him, and said in a loud voice, ‘What do you have to do with me,  Jesus, Son of the Most High God?  I beg you, don’t torment me! ’


Then all the people of the Gerasene region  asked him to leave them,  because they were gripped by great fear. So, getting into the boat, he returned.


When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgement:


‘Don’t cling to me,’ Jesus told her, ‘since I have not yet ascended   to the Father.   But go to my brothers   and tell them that I am ascending to my Father   and your Father, to my God   and your God.’


The jailer called for lights, rushed in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.


When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what should we do? ’


The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit  that we are God’s children,


Not only that,  but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits   #– #we also groan within ourselves,  eagerly waiting for adoption,  the redemption of our bodies.


In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should,  but the Spirit himself intercedes for us  , with inexpressible groanings.


They are Israelites,  and to them belong the adoption,  the glory,  the covenants,  the giving of the law,  the temple service,  and the promises.


Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God.


For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus,  whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit,  which you had not received, or a different gospel,  which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly!


This matter arose because some false brothers  had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus in order to enslave us.


For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm,  then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.


He predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ for himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,


For God has not given us a spirit of fear,  but one of power,  , love,  and sound judgement.


and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.


You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe #– #and they shudder.


There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear,  because fear involves punishment.  So the one who fears is not complete in love.
