If you do what is right, won’t you be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.’


‘If a man loses the hair of his head, he is bald,  but he is clean.


But if you don’t drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs for your eyes and thorns for your sides; they will harass you in the land where you will live.


But put on the Lord Jesus Christ,  and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires.


but wrath and anger to those who are self-seeking  and disobey the truth  while obeying unrighteousness.


so that, just as sin reigned in death,  so also grace will reign  through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.


For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under the law  but under grace.


Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone  as obedient slaves,  you are slaves of that one you obey   #– #either of sin leading to death  or of obedience leading to righteousness?


And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead  lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through  his Spirit who lives in you.


because if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body,  you will live.


For we who live are always being given over to death  for Jesus’s sake, so that Jesus’s life may also be displayed in our mortal flesh.


Indeed, we groan while we are in this tent, burdened as we are, because we do not want to be unclothed but clothed, so that mortality  may be swallowed up by life.


I say, then, walk by the Spirit  and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh.


Now those who belong to Christ Jesus  have crucified the flesh  with its passions and desires.


We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly  desires, carrying out the inclinations  of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath  as the others were also.


to take off  , your former way of life,  the old self  that is corrupted by deceitful desires,


and when the Lord your God delivers them over to you and you defeat them, you must completely destroy  them. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy.


not with lustful passions,  like the Gentiles, who don’t know God.


Flee  from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace,  along with those who call on the Lord  from a pure heart.


instructing us to deny godlessness  and worldly lusts  and to live in a sensible, righteous,  and godly  way in the present age,


For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions  and pleasures,  living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.


As obedient children,  do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance.


Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and exiles  to abstain  from sinful  desires that wage war against the soul.


These people are discontented grumblers, living according to their desires;  their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering  people for their own advantage.


They told you, ‘In the end time  there will be scoffers  living according to their own ungodly desires.’


Therefore, I now say: I will not drive out these people before you.  They will be thorns  in your sides,  and their gods will be a trap for you.’
