to one  is given a message of wisdom  through the Spirit; to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit;


If I have the gift of prophecy  and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains,  but do not have love, I am nothing.


Now about food sacrificed to idols:  We know that ‘we all have knowledge’. Knowledge puffs up,  but love  builds up.


For if someone sees you, the one who has knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, won’t his weak conscience be encouraged  to eat food offered to idols?


However, not everyone has this knowledge. Some have been so used to idolatry up until now that when they eat food sacrificed to an idol, their conscience, being weak, is defiled.


Now as you excel in everything #– #in faith, speech, knowledge,  and in all diligence, and in your love for us   #– #excel also in this act of grace.


for the fruit of the light  consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth   #– #


filled with the fruit  of righteousness  that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory  and praise of God.


Indeed, it is right  for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart,  and you are all partners with me in grace, both in my imprisonment  and in the defence  and confirmation of the gospel.


Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs,  singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.


Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.


And we exhort you, brothers and sisters:  warn those who are idle,  comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient  with everyone.


In view of this, we always pray for you that our God will make you worthy of his calling,  and by his power fulfil your every desire to do good  and your work produced by faith,


I recall your sincere faith  that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice  and now, I am convinced, is in you also.


Since I am confident of your obedience, I am writing to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.


Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God’s revelation again. You need milk, not solid food.


Even though we are speaking this way, dearly loved friends, in your case we are confident of things that are better and that pertain to salvation.


Therefore I will always remind you about these things, even though you know them and are established in the truth  you now have.


I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth.
