Then Jacob asked him, ‘Please tell me your name.’ But he answered, ‘Why do you ask my name? ’  And he blessed him there.


Be attentive to him and listen to him. Do not defy him, because he will not forgive your acts of rebellion, for my name is in him.


Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in his hands? Who has bound up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son – if you know?


Go out, young women of Zion, and gaze at King Solomon, wearing the crown his mother placed on him on the day of his wedding   – the day of his heart’s rejoicing.


You will be a glorious crown in the  Lord’s hand, and a royal diadem in the palm of your God’s hand.


For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counsellor,  Mighty God, Eternal Father,  Prince of Peace.


His body was like beryl,  his face like the brilliance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches,  his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude.


The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock of his people; for they are like jewels in a crown, sparkling over his land.


All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires   to reveal him.

While I was with them, I was protecting them by your name that you have given me. I guarded   them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction,   so that the Scripture   may be fulfilled.

But we do see Jesus #– #made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God’s grace he might taste death  for everyone #– #crowned with glory and honour   because he suffered death.


The hair of his head was white as wool #– #white as snow   #– #and his eyes like a fiery flame.


Then another sign  appeared in heaven: There was a great fiery red dragon  having seven heads and ten horns,  and on its heads were seven crowns.


And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea.  It had ten horns and seven heads. On its horns were ten crowns,  , and on its heads were blasphemous names.  ,


And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and L ord of L ords.


‘The one who conquers I will make a pillar   in the temple of my God, and he will never go out again. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God #– #the new Jerusalem,   which comes down out of heaven from my God #– #and my new name.


I looked, and there was a white horse.  Its rider held a bow;  a crown  was given to him, and he went out as a conqueror in order to conquer.


‘Why do you ask my name,’ the angel of the Lord asked him, ‘since it is beyond understanding?’
